# Introduction

Algorand projects who have distribute project tokens to investors and advisors and pay for contractors and team-members have—up until now—had to manually make these transfers, which is cumbersome and prone to human error. Token streaming automates token vesting and periodic payments by escrowing tokens, which are unlocked over time. Tokens can scheduled unlocked hourly, daily, weekly, or yearly, and can optionally include a cliff period or an initial amount to unlock. These options provide flexibility for a variety of use cases from token vesting to vested airdrops or salary streams.
